It's been years since my last visit. Memories are usually best in the head. Prior to retirement and past relationship, I would have dinner here before heading home. Visiting today, it felt this restaurant and servers stood the test of time though it appeared clean but a little dark and chilly. My favorite dish was scampi in white wine and lemon. It had prawns and scallops. Along with this dish I had ice tea. Funny the tap ice water was more refreshing. On the scampi, the prawns were large, plenty and tasty. It was buttery and lemony. Same applied to the scallops. Though with time past, I felt this dish was much more appealing. Often in the past, this dish was shared Perhaps it was dining company that made it so memorable. Bread service provides two two slices of bread for $2.00. The scampi was $35 probably market price. West Portal is usually chilly and it was no this evening. Oh well. It was pleasant experience

We made a reservation @ 5:30pm on a Monday for 11 people and they were very accommodating. The service was spot on and they took care of the entire table without a hiccup. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, despite the restaurant not being the biggest, it fit quite a few tables but did not feel cramped at all! The food was pretty good. The calamari and the sauce that it came with was SO good! Everything tasted amazing, was fresh, and filled our bellies up! I got the Scottadito, which is a rack of lamb chops, and I have to say, it was seasoned to perfection and cooked to a beautiful medium rare. My husband got the lasagna and he thought it was really tasty! The bread with their sauce was so delicious as well. ($2 for bread service) If I had to recommend an Italian restaurant in West Portal, I would definitely recommend Spiazzo!

Wow, last time I came was in 2011. So glad they survived covid. How time flies. They modernized the interior. Chandelier in the middle of room. Bottles of wine in the back like a bookcase. They have booths along the wall. They always do an exceptional job with their food. Eating mates loved their dishes of cioppino and ravioli (cheese and spinach). I had the meat lasagne and it was yummy. We got to sit and chat and eat. Very enjoyable. There was only one waiter in the noon time and he didn't miss a beat. I saw someone ordering a big dish of fried calamari and it looked really good. Not over battered.

AMAZING First time patron dining on Valentine's Day 2025. Made reservations for 2. Arrived at 6:15 and the dining room was completely packed. From the greet to the bill the dining experience was top notch. Specially curated menu with a wide variety to choose from. We started with the incredible buratta, fig, arugula, prosciutto drizzled with balsamic reduction appetizer My partner had the lamb shank, I had the roast duck both served with risotto and fresh vegetables. Perfectly seasoned lamb shank and duck were falling-off-the-bone tender and ample sized. We opted for 2021 Cab Sauvignon from Castoro which went well with both dishes. Service was AMAZING with Connie. The room was as busy as I've ever seen in a restaurant but Connie was polite, professional, and patient - all with a smile. In fact, all the servers and staff deserve a round of applause. Couldn't have been more impressed with this venue. We'll be back, for sure...

One of our favorites! Service is fantastic! The food is fabulous! We went in for an early dinner before all the reservations arrived. The hostess sat us at a comfortable booth. As we looked over the menu we decided on a few things to share. Cesar Salad, Calamari, and Octopus Salad. For entree's we ordered Shrimp Scampi, Spicy Seafood Pasta, Angel Hair Marinade. We ordered too much and took our leftovers home. I recommend this eatery. We'll definitely be back again!

Had an awesome meal with super nice service, our waiter was the sweetest. We ordered too much food and were stuffed. Everything was delicious seriously! A great neighborhood staple. Ambiance was the only thing lacking Wish we sat in a booth the other tables are a bit un comfy.

Very beautiful and calm environment that doesn't play loud music. The spaghetti bolognese was $23, and I added a side of meatballs for $11, so it was a bit expensive for spaghetti and meatballs, but it is very tasty. They let us order a dish off of a Google photo that was no longer on the menu, and you can also customize your pasta type. Our food was served quickly, and the bread service was delicious.

Was looking to catch up with some family friends on a Thursday night, over some pizza in a "nice" place. Spiazzo hit the spot with quality apps & pizza along with pleasant vibes. Will definitely come back to try their pastas & entrees. Service - Friendly staff and food came quick. Complimentary Bread - 5/5 - Fluffy, soft rectangles served with a pesto EVOO. Also served with a darker wheat option. Perfect with a glass of wine. This itself could be enough for an appetizer! Fried Calamari - 3.5/5 - Light, crispy, fresh. Very good and had a nice touch with fried veggies in the mix. Wish the portion was a little more and came across a few greasy pieces. Came with a side of dipping marina sauce that had a garlic/salty taste with not much acidity, which I liked. Bruschetta - 4/5 - Loaded toppings and bursting with flavor. Nice touch having 2 different types with the classic tomato/garlic and a different mushroom/pesto. Bread was crispy but didn't scratch the top of your mouth. Burrata & prosciutto - 4/5 - Fantastic combo of mild burrata, salty thin prosciutto, and a subtly soft sweet pear all drizzled with balsamic. The burrata pieces were thick. Went well with the complimentary bread. Pepperoni pizza - 4.5/5 - Quintessential pepperoni pizza with the simple good quality ingredients, thin crust, cheese pull, and light greasiness. Don't by shy to indulge. Prosciutto & Arugala - 4/5 - I'm not the biggest fan of this combo but it definitely surprised me. The prosciutto melted in your mouth. The saltiness did cook into the cheese, giving a more salty slice. The bitterness of the arugala really felt like it was much needed and balanced it all out. Pizza Tricolore - 3/5 - A whimsical choice 2 pizzas in one - Margherita & Pesto - representing the Italian flag. All pieces were simple and good. Enjoyed the Margherita half the best. Get this if you like pesto and can't decide. Tiramisu - 4.5/5 - Homemade piece of art. Super fresh, sweet enough, fluffy mascarpone, with dripping cholcolate sauce & cocoa powder. Had more of a coffee taste than alcoholic one. Layer of lady fingers seemed small compared to the rest, although also melted in your mouth.

Came here on a Friday night when the new restaurant Elena's had over a 3 hour wait. Other people probably had the same idea because Spiazzo was also packed! Solid option for Italian food. It's cozy and warm and feels like family. The free bread is good, as was the fried calamari and pasta dishes we had. They also have a fairly extensive wine menu. Service is nice and communicative.
